Government Relations
The University of Kansas is a major public research and teaching institution that operates through a diverse, multicampus system. KU's many parts are bound together by a mission to serve as a "center for learning, research, scholarship and creative endeavor" in the state of Kansas, the nation and the world.
As a public university, the University of Kansas works closely with the Kansas Legislature, Governor's Office, the U.S. Congress, and federal agencies. The Office of Government Relations provides information to legislators and government officials about the university's positions and policies that improve KU's education mission in Kansas.
The Government Relations Office can assist administration, faculty and student interactions with Congress, the Kansas Legislature and all branches of federal and state government. The Government Relations team provides the following services:
- Collect and distribute background information to faculty and students on issues and policy for KU legislative and policy issues from online resources and legislative subscription services.
- Schedule appointments for faculty and students with members of Congress, members of the Kansas Legislature, congressional staff, and other persons representing legislative and regulatory agencies.
- Post pertinent information on the university's Government Relations web site.
- Represent the university at meetings involving members of Congress, the governor, members of the Kansas Legislature, congressional staff, federal agencies and state agencies.
